Elyse's Confirmation

This past weekend our niece was confirmed and I thought it would be nice to make her a mini album/journal  in celebration. Of course I wanted to coordinate her album to her outfit and I was given 3 colors to work with.....aqua, navy, and tan.

I left ample space for journaling and pictures...

...along with plenty of pages with pockets for cards, notes, and memorabilia.

I ended up with quite a few scraps and decided to make a couple of small notepads for her siblings.

DETAILS:
The blue stamped image had been hanging around for a couple of years and while sorting my craft area, I put it on my craft desk to put away and it landed beside this album.....how perfect, I couldn't have asked for a better design for the focal point. All of the crosses were glued to Tim Holtz Fragments with Glossy Accents. DP is DCWV Juniper Berry.

Flower ribbon, tulle and twine, along with seam binding was used throughout the entire album to tie everything together.  The washi tape matches so well you would never know it wasn't part of the paper pack. Three of the pages open for additional pictures and private journaling.

Usually when making these journals a 1.5" Zutter wire works perfectly, but after adding extra pages I found binding to be my biggest challenge. Thank goodness Mr. B has a tad more patience than me and was able to put it all together with eyelets and D-rings.

Whew, finally done and Elyse loved it.
Such a blessed and happy day!

CHALLENGES:
Crafting from the Heart: #7 Anything Goes/Use Flowers
Loves Rubberstamps: #92 Washi or Faux Washi Tape
Through the Craft Room Doors: Anything Goes 2/25 - 3/3
The Ribbon Carousel:  #90 Washi Tape Week 4

I am still burrowed inside from the single digit temperatures outside....brrrrrr! Between naps and daydreams about warmer weather, I keep wondering why I haven't moved south yet as the midwest is a tad bit too cold for me this winter. Again......brrrrr!

WW #124 Anti-Valentine's

This week's Anti-Valentine's challenge at Wicked Wednesday is sponsored by Smeared Ink. I used their Fallen Heart #2 image for my ATC.

Copics, Signo white and black gel pens, Glossy Accents, Distress Inks, and a heart stencil were all used to complete this Anti-Valentine ATC.

I'd love it if you gave me a reason to visit your blog by entering this challenge. You have until next Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm EST to enter your ATC. If you're looking for some inspiration, my teamies have done it again and will kick start your mojo...which you see HERE!

Happy Birthday Renate

Today, at Y&FH we are celebrating and wishing our very own Yumi (aka Renate) the happiest of birthdays!

Using a very cool idea from fellow DT member Sheena, the entire DT made a banner for Renate and every hour a different letter was posted until every letter was shown. You can see the numerous posts and banner HEREI had the opportunity to make two of the banner pieces and am proud to say that most of the materials used were gifted to me by Yumi and Fumi. I thought it would be fun to incorporate them into the banner.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

I haven't had the opportunity to meet Renate, but if I ever get to California I will give her a holler and hopefully have the chance to chat with her. I'm guessing she really is as sweet and sincere in person as she appears to be through online correspondence.

Renate,
Sending my wishes for health and good cheer, and all things HAPPY!
Happy day, happy birthday!

Wicked Wednesday's ATC challenge this week is aptly called....AQUARIUS.
The image called Aquarius is by Delicious Doodles, who just happens to be the sponsor at Wicked Wednesday this week.

After printing the image on cardstock, I ran it through the printer twice so the descriptive traits would show. Watercolor pencils were used, along with Waterfall Stickles...making this ATC shimmer and shine in all the right places.

I had fun reading all of the characteristics and traits of Aquarius and found the description to be quite true of those I know who were born under this sign.

Luckily, you have an entire week to join us at Wicked Wednesday, until 7:00 pm EST next Tuesday evening. Feel free to link your ATC HERE, and don't forget to see what the DT has created ....you won't be disappointed.
Happy Wednesday,
:Dxx

Perpetual Calendar

I've never made a perpetual calendar like this and even though I LOVE the way it turned out, I'm warning you....it took more time than I thought it would. With that being said, I am planning on making a few more of these for my sister-in-laws for Mother's Day....I'll just make sure to allow myself some extra time.

Here is the video by Kerry Duff that inspired me

*********************************

The box was bought at the Dollar Store and painted.
DP is Wildflowers by MME.
All alphas/numbers were cut using the Plantin Cartridge.

After running all DP, letters, and numbers through my Xyron, I ran my brayer over the letters a couple of times and I have to say it worked like a charm and left just a smidge of residue instead of the usual sticky sides

In additional to the calendar, a matching
notepad with a handmade charm was made
1" Wooden pieces were painted, glued and used for "feet"

*********************************
Thanks for sticking with me these past few months, to say they have been challenging and overwhelming is an understatement. In addition, two (2) of my DT's are no longer in operation.

Flutter By Wednesday discontinued all challenges in December due to the owner (Danni) having new work hours and more pressing obligations.

And most recently, Yumi & Fumi Handmade has decided to go in another direction and has closed their on-line store/blog. I wish Renate' and Leanne the best of luck in their new endeavors....much gratitude to the both of them for allowing me to be on their team. These two girls are the bestest!

I am still with Wicked Wednesday ATC challenges but fear Jenn will ask me to leave if I can't get my crafting mojo back....and soon. Meanwhile, I have been spending the past few weeks rearranging my crafting area and rethinking my priorities. I start crying when I think...."what would I do if I couldn't craft."  With a hope and a prayer I will be back on track in just a few short weeks......a hope and a prayer my friends.
