A Couple of Mother's Day Cards

I've been making a menu and trying to get the house ready for the 20+ family members who'll be coming to the house on Sunday for Mother's Day. Here's a couple of the cards I've made...

During my recent retreat to the Dells Vi was trying to show us how to sew on paper with her embroidery machine, so I decided to use my "attempt" at sewing on this card. Vi also used her Cricut and SCAL to cut the design in the paper...N-I-C-E, don't you think? The flower is absolutely gorgeous in person and was handmade by DeeAnn, lucky me for having her as a partner in STSB Round 8!

This is one of my favorite cards! I went out and bought the MS butterfly punch and am now asking myself why I waited so long to get it!

"I Love You" by Carl Sandburg

“I love you,”
said a great mother.
"I love you for what you are
knowing so well what you are.
And I love you more yet, child,
deeper yet than ever, child,
for what you are going to be,
knowing so well you are going far,
knowing your great works are ahead,
ahead and beyond,
yonder and far over yet."

I don't know why, but EVERY time I read this, I get chills and I've been reading it for years.

Wishing all of you a blessed day!

Tear Bear

Isn't this the cutest?!! I was in a swap at CMB and DeeAnn was my partner for STSB Round 8...not only did she send me some the the coolest handmade items I've seen in a long time, but she also sent a gigantic pack of tear bear patterns and mulberry papers...how sweet was that?!! I can't wait to try my hand at a few more of these, but they are definately more complicated that they look!

H2O Pen and Bleach

Every year for the past couple of years I've made a set of cards for my sister-in-laws for Mother's Day, and this year will not be an exception. With that said, I've started making the cards instead of waiting to the last minute like I usually do. This is from a set of SU stamps that my good friend Vi gave me last summer...I think they're perfect for one of my SIL's.

I stamped the images on craft paper, then grabbed my bleach filled H2O pen and went over the images with it. After it dried I used my Copics over a few parts for a touch of color. I think this set turned out great! I LOVE the creamy yellow color that the craft paper changed to from the bleach, it is so pretty when you actually see it...but finding matching paper for the color wasn't an easy feat!

Now to make 2 more sets, such a dutiful chore...LOL!

I know, I know....I have been a little lax in updating my blog over the past couple of weeks, but I am almost done with the projects I've been working on and can post pictures in another week or so (after I've mailed them). Also, It was our spring break last week and I was able to go out and enjoy some of our 70+ degree weather everyday....LOVELY!!!!!

So here I was Saturday night getting some things ready when I realized that we were going to see all the nieces and nephews the next day for Easter and I hadn't bought them anything! What to do, what to do? This is what I came up with, and I think they turned out really cute....not to mention TASTY! We had a great time on Easter and had to stop the kids from biting each other's heads off! LOL!

Look what I got from Christina, isn't she the sweetest? If you haven't had the chance to check out her blog you should, she's ultra blessed and has a wicked passion for the color purple!

Paper Piercing

I love this card! I've recently discovered that Ornare makes paper piercing templates...how beautiful and easy to do! I actually downloaded this template off the net, but plan on purchasing a few of the vinyl templates because this really does make for a gorgeous card!

Explosion Box

After looking at a couple of different tutorials by different people I was able to come up with this wonderful explosion box, which I'm going to give to my mil for her birthday next weekend. Of course I still need to add a few pictures and sentiments to it, but I love it so far...and I know she will too, if for nothing else...the pics of all the grandkids that's going to be included!

The paper came from Marjorie, along with the perfect pearls...which you can't see too well, but I dotted it on all the corners of the box.

The explosion box tutorial came from Alicia's blog and if you click on her name, it'll pop up...she did a fantastic job with the directions. I'm really starting to love our monthly projects!

The flowers are from Kathy Orta's video on youTube...she did an awesome job on the directions. Another reason to fall in love with my Cricut!

I have been busy.....

I really have been busy!

I was in a shoebox swap on CMB, which was a lot of fun! I had the opportunity to make a new friend through the swap, and look forward to meeting her in person! The swap included a few altered and handmade items, so here are a few of the things I got to make for Margorie...

...these are my absolute favorite items out of everything I made! I had the opportunity to be "sneaky" and upload a pic of her pups from SparkPeople and was able to use it to make these adorable PUP-fairy flies!

This is a couple of tin boxes I altered with alcohol inks. I did need some directions on this, and Nancy/FortheLoveofTim helped me through the learning process. YAY for people who love to share their knowledge of their crafts!

After learning to etch for the Shoebox Swap, I just kept etching....
I made this for Karrilee for the BFF Valentine's Swap on SparkPeople because the little Elfster guy drew her name as my partner!

Funny, the Elfster guy drew my name for her....here are all the cool things she sent my way for the Valentine's Swap. She ROCKS!

Here I am smooching my SMOOCH!

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day and was able to spend the day being with those you love, doing what you love! We spent the day traveling to our parents houses, having heart-shaped meatloaf, and chocolate fondue....yep, you guessed it... all the people and things I love!

BROKEN

After my youngest son broke his arm in September he had to have x-rays and a new cast put on every couple of weeks, not only did he love the attention, but he loved getting everyone to sign his cast. I would ask him if I could sign his cast and he would say "NO!" because he knew I would sign it with a heart for the O, and he thought it would be embarassing to have a heart on his cast. After a while it became a game for me to try to get him to let me write my name...but he never let me.

This LO is the closest that my name ever got to his cast! LOL!

I stapled the word BROKEN by using my new Tiny Attacher that I rec'd from Marjorie in Round 7....WooHoo...what a fun tool!
