Elyse's Confirmation

This past weekend our niece was confirmed and I thought it would be nice to make her a mini album/journal  in celebration. Of course I wanted to coordinate her album to her outfit and I was given 3 colors to work with.....aqua, navy, and tan.

I left ample space for journaling and pictures...

...along with plenty of pages with pockets for cards, notes, and memorabilia.

I ended up with quite a few scraps and decided to make a couple of small notepads for her siblings.

DETAILS:
The blue stamped image had been hanging around for a couple of years and while sorting my craft area, I put it on my craft desk to put away and it landed beside this album.....how perfect, I couldn't have asked for a better design for the focal point. All of the crosses were glued to Tim Holtz Fragments with Glossy Accents. DP is DCWV Juniper Berry.

Flower ribbon, tulle and twine, along with seam binding was used throughout the entire album to tie everything together.  The washi tape matches so well you would never know it wasn't part of the paper pack. Three of the pages open for additional pictures and private journaling.

Usually when making these journals a 1.5" Zutter wire works perfectly, but after adding extra pages I found binding to be my biggest challenge. Thank goodness Mr. B has a tad more patience than me and was able to put it all together with eyelets and D-rings.

Whew, finally done and Elyse loved it.
Such a blessed and happy day!

CHALLENGES:
Crafting from the Heart: #7 Anything Goes/Use Flowers
Loves Rubberstamps: #92 Washi or Faux Washi Tape
Through the Craft Room Doors: Anything Goes 2/25 - 3/3
The Ribbon Carousel:  #90 Washi Tape Week 4

I am still burrowed inside from the single digit temperatures outside....brrrrrr! Between naps and daydreams about warmer weather, I keep wondering why I haven't moved south yet as the midwest is a tad bit too cold for me this winter. Again......brrrrr!

Nativity Candy Wrappers

For some reason I've created numerous reasons for myself to craft this holiday season...I think it's because I decided a couple of months ago that I've spent my fair share of money on crafting supplies and I should use them more often.  That could be one of the reasons, but it could also be that I just like to create?!!

I needed a quick and inexpensive gift for a  handful of 7th graders who come to the house every Wednesday for CCD class, and as this week's class was the last one until after the new year I needed to make it pronto.   I grabbed some large sized Hershey Bars ($1.50 ea at Target) and my Cricut Inspired Heart cartridge and this is what I came up with:

I think the candy wrappers look plain in the pictures, but when you see them they shimmer and shine perfectly as glitter paper and Spica glitter pens were used in all the right places.

I used the Inspired Heart cartridge for the nativity silhouette and it's shadow, both were cut at 3.5".  Both sentiments were stamped using  Heartfelt Creations Wisemen Pre-cut set, and the star stamp is over 15 years old. Ribbon and raffia were added. I wanted these to look nice but didn't want to put too much time into making them because I knew the kids would really just want the chocolate...like a 13 year old would say no to chocolate?!!

I'm entering this post in the Anything Goes Challenge that's going on at The Kraft Journal.

Thanks for taking the time to stop, read, and leave a comment....it's nice to be among friends.

GFS - FFF - Monochromatic March Madness

I'm not too sure that this is monochromatic, but it is the best that I'm going to do for this week's challenge....as this card was 90% done when I saw the challenge. I decided that I loved the way this was turning out so much that I wouldn't "tweek" it just to fit the challenge rules...but am secretly hoping it is within the guidelines.

This gorgeous Fleur Anya is going to my niece who is making her 1st Holy Communion in a couple of weeks. I knew immediately she would be perfect as a young girl dressed entirely in white with her "veil" of flowers...again, the perfect image IMHO!

Anya is colored with Copics.
The paper is double layered with Nesties and embossed with one of the CB Asian folders.
Used a rub-on for the sentiment and cross.
Extras: Stickled flowers, a pop-dotted heart, pearls, and a bow.

Abundant blessings to our sweet Macala!
