Y&FH #19 Red, White, Blue & Kraft

So tell me.....do you think this suave and debonair guy looks like he has too much swag?!!  One can never have too much swag, right?!  My soon-to-be 14 year old son loves to say YOLO SWAG......so I thought it would be fun to make him a card with a similar saying for his upcoming birthday.

 

 

I think this image of Chase has a lot of SWAG and found stamping him in blue made my color choices easy for the Red,White, Blue, & Kraft challenge that's going on right now at Yumi & Fumi Handmade. After stamping the image all I needed to do was to find some DP, add the CG sentiment, and glue down a few star embellishments.

WW #90 June Wedding Reminder

I just realized I forgot to post for Wicked Wednesday's June Wedding challenge last Wednesday....aaaack!!! Here is my forgotten ATC using the adorable I Cherryish You image from 2 Cute Ink, who is our sponsor this week.

 

 

Secondly, this is my Saturday reminder ATC, which I think is appropriate to add to my on-going monthly ATC calendar. The wedding apparel is from wedding DP I've had for quite a few years. I fussy cut, glued, and outlined the finery with various inks and markers. The calender stamp is from CTMH, and the hearts are from TGF's Bean collection.

FBW # 246 Summer

This week's challenge at Flutter By Wednesday is SUMMER themed, what's not to love about this challenge?!! The rules are very simple and you can see them HERE, but the most important rule is that there is a butterfly or fairy on your project.

Lastly, the FBW DT will be taking the entire month of July off due to busy summer schedules, so there's no need to be concerned if you don't see us posting for a couple of weeks. In light of my father's recent hospitalization, the reprieve is perfect timing for me. In addition to July, I will personally be taking the month of August off from the FBW team....a planned vaca and getting our daughter ready to go off to college will be keeping me extra busy.

WW #89 Symbols of Peace Reminder

 

 

This week's challenge at Wicked Wednesday is all about Symbols of Peace. My inspiration came from a $1 magnetic memo pad that I use in my craft area. I tore off a sheet of paper, glued it to card stock for stability, cut it to ATC size and started applying gesso, gelatos, and charcoal....along with a few other mixed medium products. I then stamped the Inkadinkadoo sentiment and heat set the white embossing powder. Rub-ons, glitter and doodling completed it.

 

It seems like it has been ages since I last posted, yet it's only been a week?!! My daughter's graduation party last Saturday was great, and we couldn't have been happier than to be with our family and friends who came out to celebrate Frankie and her accomplishments with us.

 

 

On a sadder note, 4 hours after the last guest left we received a phone call that my father was taken to the ER with some serious complications...which he is still trying to recover from. Most of my past week has been spent at the hospital or talking about the hospital....making the hour it took to create this week's ATC a much needed break from my daily routine.

Y&FH #18 CONGRATS! Reminder

I'm making a quick post to remind everyone that the CONGRATS! challenge is still in progress at Y&FH blog. 

 

My card uses  Summer Chuckles and the Tiki Surf Set from the new Hang Loose release.

I had been thinking the sentiments from the Tiki Surf Set would be perfect to use on a card for someone who just bought a new car but wasn't sure how I was going to pull it off...until I went walking through the grocery store and this palm tree car deorderizer was hanging on an end cap. Hanging...hang...hang from a mirror...hang loose...AH HA!!!

 

I also think this would be easy to alter for a newly liscenced driver with a gas card attached instead of the deoderizer.

Y&FH Hang Loose Release Day! (picture heavy)

Happy Y&FH Hang Loose Release Day!!!

 

Aloha! I hope you've been enjoying the previews of the Hang Loose series at the Y&FH blog these past couple of days. If you have, you'll know Leanne and the rest of the DT have been busy showing these adorable new images off.

 

I decided to use almost all of the images in one project to make a mixed media journal cover. I feel it is necessary to say that I am in no way an expert on mixed media, I just like using all of the products and will sit for extended periods of time coloring and painting and outlining.

 

The images and sentiments were stamped on a piece of watercolor paper and after coloring them, gesso was applied over the entire page.  Multiple colored Gelatos were used for a rainbow effect...because I always think of rainbows when I think of Hawaii. Additional images were colored and fussy cut, and after gluing a few of them to the page, gesso was applied again.

 

 

 Additional stamping, chipboard letters, and DP were added.

 

  

TH Fragments and Glossy Accents were used to make charms, but after deciding they were too large to use as charms I glued them onto the cover.

 

 

After a few more layers, this is the finished journal.

FBW #244 CAS

Flutter By Wednesday has another fun challenge this week...to make a CAS card! Not only are you to include a butterfly/fairy but you are also to make it Clean and Simple. You can see all of the challenge rules HERE.

 

 

I used TH tissue tape to hold the DP in place, then added a sentiment and epoxy sticker...of course I couldn't stop with just that and added a row of rub-on pink polka dots.  What's not to love about a CAS card?!!

I am kind of of bragging when I say my fellow teamies are extremely good with this CAS challenge...you can see their fab cards AND link your project HERE. But hurry, you only have until midnight (PST) next Tuesday, June 18th.
