FBW 225 Open Challenge

I Mustache U...

It might be hard to recognize these two girls because they're incognito, but......I'm guessing we all know who they are, right?!!  

 

  

The adorable Yumi and Fumi are some of the cutest gals around and I always giggle when I see them as I find their smiles infectious! (I just read on the Y&F FB page that these two are on sale at the Y&F online store for 30% off until Jan 31st....grab 'em while they're in stock.)

 

As soon as I saw this fab DP I  knew I had to make a fun card with these two girls being silly, as BFF's tend to do often.

I think everyone has had some kind of fun with this mustache fad in one way or another and I'm going to miss it when it's replaced by a new trend. My own family used pig snouts instead of mustaches during a recent family gathering for our annual Rib Fest and I'm guessing the margaritas and sangria made us all think it was funnier than it was?!! Nah, the snouts were hilarious and even my mother-in-law was caught wearing one.

I've really enjoyed spending my Tuesdays as the January GD at Y&F H this month! Thanks for the sweet and encouraging comments.

Pandamonidum with Y&F H

While driving to the airport to pick up my hubby I was reflecting on my week and all that had transpired over the past few days...let me say, it was a crazy week with a lot of chaos and unexpected challenges. As I was driving the word PANDEMONIUM popped into my head. What an odd word, yet it fit my week perfectly and that was when my "Ah-ha" moment occurred.....

 

Pandemonium,  Panda, Fumi Panda, PANDA-monium....Ah-ha!  

I knew I had to make a card with that theme, and that it should turn and spin....and be (just a little) chaotic!

and this is what it does!

(Obviously, this is my first ever video!) 

I started by cutting a circle from recycled packaging, adding circles cut with Nesties, fussy cutting Fumi Panda, and sticking everything onto a game spinner. DP is from My Big Ideas. Stars were cut from a Memory Box die.

Wicked Wednesday #68 Add a Charm

Wicked Wednesday has a fun challenge this week and all you have to do is add a charm to your  ATC. Our sponsor this week is Just Some Lines who supplied the entire DT with some adorably fun images. 

I used this big puffy Word Love image from JSL which reminded me of sitting in my high school class, day dreaming and doodling on my notebooks. The flower charm I used is small, but I thought it was perfect to use in place of the letter O. The hearts were hand drawn and lots of Stampendous Crystal Snow was used.  All papers are from my never ending stash of scraps.

I'm also entering this in the Something New challenge at Just Some Lines...if your wondering what I used that was new, it was the image.

FBW #224 Sketch Challenge

This week at Flutter By Wednesday we are using a sketch by our own FBW Sketch Designer Kathy Curry, here's the sketch that the entire DT worked with:

 

 

This adorable image is Boo and Snookie by A&T Digital Designs and was colored with Copics. 

The DP is by Christy Tomlinson. Mesh bling, EK Success Arch Scallop border punch, Nestie oval & oval scallop dies, white gel pen, CB Swiss Dots embossing folder, and a flower (shhhh.....stolen from my sister's stash) were all used on this card.

Another Happy Tuesday

Happy Tuesday and thanks for stopping by, I'm having a blast being the January GD  at Yumi & Fumi Handmade and love sharing all of my little projects using these adorable images. After reading their Angel Policy it occurred to me that I needed permission from Yumi and Fumi to resize Yumi with Fan to create this project. Thank goodness I have an "in" with the right people, lol!

 

In all fairness, I must point out that Yumi is not true to size as the original rubber image is 3 1/2". Stampendous Crystal Snow was added over the entire sentiment which makes it hard to read, but it says Be yourself... everyone else is taken and is from the CTMH D1349 set. A wonderful sentiment...wouldn't you agree? The tag has glittery tulle, ribbons and a very simple handmade charm.

Graphic 45 Bird Song DP was used on the card, and a few extra lanterns were fussy cut and pop-dotted, along with a couple rows of sparkly mesh bling being added.

WW Embellish-it Reminder

Can you guess how many hearts are on this ATC?!  There are a total of 24 hearts, and actually it would be 25 if you count the shadow to the embossed heart. I think it's fair to say that I have embellished this ATC thoroughly.

While making this ATC I found another use for my Copics...this little clear heart stamp fit perfectly on the end.

FAN-tastic Yumi

This is a very simple card using Yumi and Fumi's Handmade Yumi with Fan image....isn't she just FAN-tastic?!! 

I was hoping to show off this gorgeous vellum paper by matting it with white card stock because I  wanted to showcase the multi colored pastel fans which are oh, so pretty....but I cut off most of the design! Grrrr, I need more paper and I  don't remember where I bought it.

A few more items used to complete this card are rhinestones, cherry blossoms, Lacey Squares die, Washi paper by Hanko Designs for the paper pieced kimono, and the sentiment was CG.

FBW #223 White On White

It's time to get your white on for this week's White on White (WOW) challenge at Flutter By Wednesday.

I am going to be honest and tell you that I struggle horribly with all white cards, I personally do not like the look of them and therefore have the hardest time making them. With that said, this card took me a long time and several tries, but I LOVE the final result...I'm sending thanks to Danni for challenging me!

The off white is a shimmery coated textured CS, and the iris fold cross was made with 2 different types of white vellum...one plain and one patterned. The sentiment is from SU, silver mesh bling and MS punched butterflies where also added.

Just because I'm not fond of White On White doesn't mean that I can't appreciate a well made WOW card....wait until you see what my teamies came up because their cards are stunning! Feel free to link up your projects HERE!

After I glued it all together it occurred to me that I should have added some glitter and microbeads to the shaker part....next time, right?!!

Happy Tuesday w/ Fumi Panda

I love having the wonderful opportunity to post every Tuesday  at Y&F H during the month of January, which IMHO is one of the best perks of being the January GD. I thought I'd share a card I made using Fumi Panda, a new stack of Pink Paisley Secret Crush DP I bought last week,  and Jen Shults' DS#83.

If you were a mouse sitting in the corner of my craft area while I made this card, this is just a few of the comments you might have heard me saying out loud to myself....

"Grrrr...I only own a handful of border punches, where did it go?!!"

Y&F Challenge #9 Photo Inspiration

I have to say that the new year has been good so far...of course it's only Day 6, but it's much better than the last month and a half where everyone in my house had been sick and on antibiotics.  I'm enjoying being the January GD at Yumi and Fumi Handmade and just love these adorable little images. There's a new photo challenge that starts today and runs through February 2nd....I have to say that it was nice to break out some fun and fresh colors after making holiday cards for the past few months.

FBW #221 In with the New

In with the New is the theme over at Flutter By Wednesday this week....new babies, new jobs, new houses, the new year...so many reasons to celebrate! Fumi Panda and Happy New Year!

Once again, I can't say how excited I am to be the January GD at Yumi & Fumi Handmade....these really are some of the cutest images, and every time I see them I always smile. I've been wanting to use Fumi Panda for a while, and I knew exactly what I was going to make with this cutie....a(nother) journal.

 

I made the background paper on the computer because I wanted to personalize this with one of our favorite family stories...that the first time we took our youngest son to Panda Express he started to cry and told us, "I don't like panda meat."  Too cute!

 

I've been waiting for the perfect project to use these beads to make a charm....if you look closely you'll see a glass panda bead.  There are also a couple of wooden beads with kenja symbols that I found at OTC. The Ying/Yang symbol was made using my Pagoda cartridge.
